Daily Class Pacing#

The suggested way to to structure your main class time is with the following categories:

  1. Pre-recorded Video Time: Class time specifically set aside for students to complete their daily lecture videos. During this time, I make it clear to the students that I am also available to answer their questions on the class team chat channel.

  2. Live Zoom Meeting: Class time spent on Q&A, reviewing lecture material from the videos, giving supplemental lectures, or completing participation problems.

  3. Quiz Time: This is during class time and is a continuation of the regular Zoom meeting. Before the quiz begins, students switch to the standard 2-device proctoring setup. Quizzes have only one proctor, the instructor.

    • In case of any Academic Integrity issues, it’s helpful to do both the usual Zoom Cloud Recording and a local screen recording. On Mac, you can do this with Quicktime.

  4. Office Hours: During these designated times outside of class, the instructor is actively available to answer student questions. You can opt for a Zoom meeting or utilize the Zoom team chat channel to initiate the conversation and then escalate to a meeting if needed.

Zoom Focus Mode

You should have all of your Zoom meetings set to Focus Mode. This is particularly important any time you require students turn their camera on. This will not affect Gallery View Recordings.
